Celebrating 25 YEARS!

By Nicholas MacIntyre

It was a quarter of a century ago that Ray White Morisset was established as a husband and wife team in the small country town with enormous potential. In the decades since, Peter and Libby MacIntyre have witnessed the cyclical nature of our property market and an expanding Commercial and Industrial hub.

“In some cases we’ve marketed and sold the same house three and four times for different people. And in other cases we’ve helped the same local identities and families as they buy and sell when their families expanded and then downsize when kids grew up or circumstances change.”

“Properties we used to sell in the $200,000 range are now selling for close to one million. Particularly in places like Bonnells Bay, Sunshine, Brightwaters and other Lakeside locations. Still, by Sydney standards, this is very affordable for coastal living. New people are attracted to the lakeside lifestyle.”

Peter attributes much of the growth to major retailers and national marketing. With improved infrastructure including the M1 and rail, the area’s attractions have become very accessible especially to the Sydney market.

“Woolworths, Coles, Bunnings and the Morisset business park have really modernised our community over the years. Employment, too, has grown dramatically.”

“But today we are still driven by interest in holiday and retirement homes as well as the emergence of speculators from Sydney, buying because it is great value for money compared to the city and we are well positioned along the commuting belt from Newcastle to the Hunter Valley and Sydney.”

“Today a huge proportion of our community commute to Sydney daily. The waterfront market here is very attractive due to the affordability and lifestyle. The remainder of our buyers are retirees, first home buyers, investors and families”.

Peter’s story begins before the Ray White office.

“I used to work for Sun Lake Real Estate and gained a lot of knowledge from the owners, they were the pioneering agents of the area.”
And why has Peter MacIntyre stayed in the real estate game so long? “There’s never a dull moment. I love meeting people and trying to help them by offering the right advice on property in general whether buying or selling. I also take great pride in helping our team to develop their skills and to see them achieve”

These days, Peter concentrates on servicing the Owners of Commercial and Industrial properties in the area. He oversees the very committed sales team whilst Libby is the Office Manager/Residential,Commercial and Industrial Property Administrator. Their son Nicholas is in charge of office IT as well as Marketing and Commercial and Industrial Property Management.

It’s a real family affair at Ray White Morisset with their daughter Corrinna, who has an interior design degree, also working in the business as PA to Sales consultant Cheryl Lomas.

Longevity and loyalty are qualities not limited to the MacIntyre family. Their staff members too have displayed these. Cheryl Griffiths has been with Ray White Morisset since 1999, Claudette since 2003 while receptionist Lucy is edging in on twenty years service!

Ray White Morisset was one of the first Ray White offices in New South Wales. They’re now one of 260 in the state and 1000 internationally, according to the NSW CEO Stephen Nell.

“There are 15,000 registered real estate professionals in NSW and one third of them leave the industry each year. So, 25 years in real estate, under one brand, is a significant milestone,” said NSW CEO Stephen Nell.

Why did Peter choose Ray White? “They were a family owned and operated Franchise big in Queensland and in the late 1980’s they were keen and motivated to expand at a rapid rate throughout NSW”

Ray White Morisset has collected many an accolade over the last twenty five years achieving awards for the best country Office in NSW, number one Salespeople in the state, best Auction Office/Salesperson as well as Administrator and Property Management awards.

“What a great personality for the company, his consistency has been his hallmark,” Ray White chairman Brian White said.

Peter and his family are both personally and professionally fond of the local region. “We travel a lot and love seeing the world but there’s really nowhere like home.”

“We thank the people of our community for their continued support over the last twenty five years and endeavour to continue to do our best for the people in our region far into the future.” The team at Ray White Morisset.
